Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate for Switch and PC adds ‘Live Exploration Display,’ three new dungeons

A few tidbits from Weekly Famitsu.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate for Switch and PC will add a “Live Exploration Display” feature and three new dungeons alongside a couple of other new features, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

Here are the details:

Live Exploration Display

A new feature that displays the player’s belongings, status, and other information in an inverted L-shaped area created by slightly downscaling the game screen to the upper left. It can be turned on or off at any time. According to the game’s director, this feature is convenient for “Let’s Play” videos.

Other New Features

  • Once heard, background music is registered to a guide and can be replayed at any time.
  • “Wanderer Rescue”—which allows you to rescue players who were defeated in dungeons, as well as be rescued by other players when you yourself have been defeated—is now supported worldwide, including North America, Europe, and Japan. You can also limit requests to players of the same language.

New Dungeons

  • Corridor of Life and Death – Set your own target turn before entering. When that turn comes, a gust of wind will blow and result in failure.
  • Garden of the Fate God – Playable after clearing the game. Earned experience points decreases based on number of attacks and increases with one-shot kills.
  • Bladeless Wasteland – No weapon drops.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate will launch for Switch and PC via Steam on December 2 in the west and December 3 in Japan.

A price was not announced. It will feature English and Japanese voice acting, as well as Chinese (Simplified), German, and French subtitles.

Here is an overview of the game, via developer MyDearest:

ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos picks up 300 years after the events of Tokyo Chronos, the award-winning VR adventure game. Devastated by deadly creatures known as Meteora, humanity seeks refuge in the underground bunkers of a post-apocalyptic Shibuya, Japan. Earth’s last hope lies within Chloe, a genetically enhanced soldier who seeks to deliver humanity from their end, while out for vengeance against the monstrosities that took her only friend.

Discover the secrets behind what caused this reign of terror and fight for Chloe’s fallen friend from the cockpit of giant mechs. Dive into a world where Chloe goes head-to-head with hellish behemoths for intense mecha battles in a showdown among giants. As combat rages, ATLDEUS’ brilliant cyber diva, Noa, aids Chloe on the battlefield through song and instruction.

Crowdfunded side-scrolling shoot 'em up sequel gets a release window.

R-Type Final 2

Crowdfunded side-scrolling shoot ’em up sequel R-Type Final 2 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in spring 2021, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

Here is an overview of the game, via its official website:

The Best R-Type We Can Make Now

Now that the wide screen aspect ratio of 16:9 has become standard, side-scrolling shooter games will evolve into something more exciting.

Wave Cannon attacks by trans-dimensional fighters equipped with firepower equivalent of that of a battleship. This game is thoroughly focused on expressions of how enemies are destroyed. The feeling of exhilaration in the destructions is thoroughly pursued.

The stage dominated by decaying organisms. As new enemies are generated from carcasses of the enemies, the more the player plays the game, the stronger enemies he or she gets. Not only the player’s fighter, but also the stages will evolve. That’s R-Type Final 2. Moreover, new stages are planned to be added after the release of the game.

Enhanced Playability, Full of Exciting and Enjoyable Elements

The level of difficulty is automatically adjusted according to the player’s ability. Exquisite gameplays will be met with higher difficulty levels which offer explosive increase of the scores. It guarantees high playability of the game by Score Attack. On the other hand, those who are not familiar with R-Type and who are new to play side scrolling shooter games are given a moderate level of difficulty so that they can avoid a gameplay that is “too difficult to play.”

The gameplay in which players make full use of Wave Cannon and Force to defeat formidable enemies remains alive. The game will be carefully created to bring about maneuvering and game development that are unique qualities of side scrolling shooter games.

Not only the enemy’s shots, but also tactics relating to geographical features, as well as ramming attacks by giant enemies pose a threat to the player’s fighter. The tension and thrill of cutting his or her way through huge enemies is something that only R-Type can offer.

Successive Trans-dimensional Fighters Make Renewed Appearances!

Dozens of fighters that appeared in the previous series are planned to make renewed appearances, including R-9A, R-9B, R-9D, R-9DH, R-9W, R-9SKW, RX-10, TW-2, and R-13A.

A greater variety and expressions of the Force and Wave Cannons to be available.

Colors and decals can be changed as you please.

Thanks, Ryokutya2089.

Drake Hollow

Following an Xbox One release on August 28, the PC version of cooperative action village-building game Drake Hollow will launch for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on October 1, developer The Molasses Flood announced.

“Hundreds of thousands of Drake Hollow players on Xbox have had a chance to experience something pretty unique in the world of games: the opportunity to care for something other than yourself,” said The Molasses Flood CEO and Creative Director Forrest Dowling in a press release. “Our aim was to create a game experience that brims with heart, is both musically and visually enticing, and has at its core rock-solid systems-based gameplay. We hope players find Drake Hollow to be as fun and unique as we designed it to be!”

Here is an overview of the game, via The Molasses Flood:

Drake Hollow is a cooperative action village-building game set in The Hollow—a blighted mirror of our world – in which players protect villages of Drakes; the lovable, local vegetable folk. Either solo or with friends, players explore a dynamically generated and aether-swept world of islands to defend the Drakes from a menagerie of feral beasts, all while helping them to maintain their camps.

Mysteries and rewards, as well as danger, await those curious enough to search every nook and cranny of The Hollow. Drakes are hungry, thirsty, and need a place to sleep. They can also—quite literally—die of boredom. Players will explore the wilderness and set up valuable supply routes to bring essentials back to camp, while keeping the Drakes entertained and happy (think yoga and puppet shows). Defending the Drakes from enemies with weapons ranging from tennis rackets to nail guns, players will eventually unravel the peculiar and ancient connection between The Hollow and our own world.
